Children spend morning shopping with law enforcement

Several local children were able to shop for Christmas gifts with an Excelsior Springs law enforcement officer through the Shop with a Cop program. “Shop with a Cop is a program that allows local law enforcement officers and children in our community to develop a relationship that will make a difference in both of their lives and last a lifetime,” said Excelsior Springs Sgt. Samantha Nash-St. John. “It allows us to go shopping with the kids at a local Walmart to buy gifts for family members and themselves. It’s just a way for us to give back to the community,” she said. Nash-St. John has been the coordinator for Shop with a Cop for the last four years. Thirteen third through fifth grade students were chosen to shop with Excelsior Springs officers this year.
