Past Lewis student takes part in rebuild process

Tim Broughton, a former Lewis Middle School student and sales manager with Fordyce Concrete, a CRH company, has witnessed the rebuilding process of the new school facility from the inside out. Broughton, now residing in Lawson, grew up in Excelsior Springs long before the revitalization efforts took place downtown. While living in the area, he began his education at Isley before attending Wyman School. Once Wyman was shut down, Broughton said he went to Lewis and was a part of the 1993 graduating class. He noted some of his favorite characteristics about attending Lewis were the classes. Broughton expressed that it was a different time back then, and he and his classmates partook in a hunter’s safety class during school hours in the gymnasium. The hunter’s safety class he experienced was designed to teach children how to handle firearms and what to do when around them properly. “I remember we shot BB guns across the gym floor,” he said. “in the south side of the old building.” In…
