Ex. Spr. falls to Bulldogs, Warriors in girls soccer

Last week, the top two varsity girls soccer teams in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division beat on the door of Excelsior Springs. Those two teams not only beat on the door; they knocked it down. First, Kearney downed the Tigers 6-1 on May 1 at Kearney, with junior Bailey Carder picking up Excelsior Springs’ lone goal. Then, Smithville hammered Excelsior Springs 8-0 on May 4 at Tiger Stadium. The losses dropped the Tigers to 8-8 overall. “Those are two good programs, so we enjoy the challenge of playing them and furthering our development as we move toward districts,” coach Zac Ganzer said. Both games “allowed us to work on the things we will need to do to prepare for our ultimate goal, which is playing for a district championship,” Ganzer said. Excelsior Springs got back above .500 by downing Odessa on Monday at Tiger Stadium.
