Black Vultures causing livestock conflicts

A native Missouri species is causing problems for landowners. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have launched a multi-year research project aimed at tackling the issue of conflicts with Black Vultures. This collaborative effort seeks to find better ways to manage these birds and reduce their negative impact on community members. To make this project a success, members of the public, including landowners, cattle ranchers, birdwatchers and anyone else who might have encountered black vultures, are encouraged to report sightings of these birds marked with tags on their wings. By collecting this information, researchers will gain valuable insights into the behavior of these scavengers, their human conflict and be able to test vulture management tools.
