City’s future discussed at luncheon
The City of Excelsior Springs shared its ongoing planning resources to bring the community together to map out its future at this month’s Chamber of Commerce networking luncheon.
City Manager Molly McGovern city’s behalf and said, “Planning is how we separate and map out where we want to go and how we’re going to get there. Our community is not just interested in building the community we live in; we want to build a community that people want to visit.”
McGovern noted city planning is no different from those in the community planning to raise a family or achieve personal goals. She said there are just more people affected by city planning and decisions.
She explained that in a recent city survey, residents’ concerns were also things the city continues to address, including utility rate, crime, environmental quality, employment opportunity, education and enrichment Planning, land use, public trust, infrastructure, and substance abuse.
