Tackett enters not guilty plea

waived arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty to several felony sex crimes during a hearing at Clay County Courthouse on June 23, before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge David Chamberlin.
The 38-year-old Excelsior Springs man, who is being held on a $100,000 cash or surety bond, is facing two felony charges, including: statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy, deviate sexual intercourse of a person less than 12 years of age; and fourth-degree child molestation of a child less than 17 years of age and offender greater than four years older.
Tackett appeared in custody with his public defender, Miles Reed, who entered a motion for a change of judge. Chamberlin was handling the docket of Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Timothy Flook on the day of the request. A hearing has been set for 9 a.m. on August 11.
