Danner commits to Park U
Mason Danner has chosen to continue his education – and his baseball career.
Danner, who graduated this spring from Excelsior Springs High School, has committed to study at and play for Park University, a Parkville-based NAIA school. He joins the Pirates after being a four-year letterwinner at Excelsior Springs, where he played every position in the infield.
After losing his freshman season to the COVID pandemic, Danner spent most of his sophomore season at catcher, with some time pitching. As a junior, he was the regular starting shortstop and helped the Tigers win a Class 4 district championship. For his senior year, he returned to catching and pitched some, helping lead the Tigers to a third-place state finish in Class 4 and receiving first-team all-state honors.
Danner will focus on pitching for the Pirates, who play in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Academically, he will focus on studying multimedia journalism and public relations, with the intention of becoming a…
