Tigers keep rolling in varsity girls soccer
Excelsior Springs has been almost unbeatable lately in varsity girls soccer.
Through Monday’s home win over Savannah, the Tigers had won five of their last six and were 6-5 overall entering Wednesday’s road meeting with Raytown South in Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division action. They won three of four last week, going 2-1 and finishing second in the Excelsior Springs Tournament, and then getting a road win.
The Tigers opened their tournament by thumping Cameron 8-0 on April 8. Juniors Abby Rash and Bailey Carder each had a hat trick to help power Excelsior Springs offensively.
Rash started the scoring, with Carder getting the assist. Sophomore Shelby Stodden made it 2-0 off an assist from Carder. Carder then scored off an assist from Stodden.
Rash scored her second goal off Carder’s third assist. Carder’s second goal made it 5-0, with the assist going to first-year high schooler Kirsten Stout.
